Accessibility Statement

Last updated: March 15, 2026

Our Commitment

Hearth was built from the ground up for deaf and non-speaking adults. Accessibility is not an afterthought — it is the foundation of everything we build. We are committed to ensuring that Hearth is usable by everyone, regardless of ability.

Standards

We strive to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at the AA level. We regularly review and test our platform to identify and address accessibility barriers.

Accessibility Features

  • Real-time speech-to-text — converts spoken language into text so deaf and hard-of-hearing users can follow conversations
  • Text-to-speech output — enables non-speaking users to type responses and have them spoken aloud
  • High contrast interface — designed with clear visual hierarchy and sufficient color contrast
  • Adjustable text sizes — users can customize text size for comfortable reading
  • Keyboard navigation — all core features are accessible via keyboard
  • Screen reader support — semantic HTML and ARIA labels for assistive technology compatibility
  • Progressive Web App — works on any device with a browser, no app store required

Known Limitations

While we work to ensure comprehensive accessibility, some limitations exist:

  • Speech-to-text accuracy depends on audio quality, background noise, and speaker clarity
  • Real-time transcription may have brief delays depending on network conditions

We are continuously working to improve these areas.
